tall and a muscular companion of Clark since childhood

with his extraordinary skills in swimming, hunting and trapping

he came with the expedition to the West

Was admired by Indians of the Plains as a mighty warrior

When they got back, he asked for his freedom

but Clark wouldn’t grant it

He continued to be a slave

yet was remembered in U.S. history
